Course Objectives:

The course objective of applied study is to assist the student in discovering and understanding the skills necessary to help develop his/her individual playing abilities on a woodwind instrument Included is an in-depth study of 1) technical developments 2) solo literature and 3) pedagogical techniques appropriate both for the music and the instrument. All professional musicians teach applied lessons sometime during their career. Thorough study in these three areas helps develop the student’s skills both as a performer and as a teacher.
